Large Language Models: Build a Text Generator

Self-paced · About 14 hours · Final assessment within 3 weeks of unlocking · 100% online

Large language models (LLMs) power today's AI chatbots. In this level you learn how they turn words into tokens and predict what comes next, then you build your own text generator and see why the wording of a prompt changes the answer.

What you will be able to do

  • Split text into tokens and count them
  • Build word patterns from a body of text
  • Generate new text by predicting the next word
  • Control randomness in generated text
  • Explain how prompts steer a language model, and where models go wrong
Level project: A text generator that writes in the style of the text it learned from.
