AI Courses: Important Information

These are non-credit courses

The AI courses are certificate courses offered by Am-Can Business & Tech School. They are not Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credit courses, they do not earn credits, and they do not count toward the OSSD.

Why these courses are worth taking

No credit, but real value. The AI Coding Courses are built to give young people and complete beginners skills they can use at school, in further study and later at work.

Skills for the futureCoding and AI are used in almost every field, from science and health to business and the arts. Students learn how these tools are actually built.
Made for youth and beginnersNo experience is needed. Level 0 starts from the very first line of Python and each level adds one step at a time.
Learn by buildingEvery level ends with a working project the student built: a greeting bot, a chatbot, a spam filter, a text generator and more.
Thinking and problem solvingWriting and debugging code builds logical thinking and patience with hard problems, habits that help in math, science and everyday work.
Understand the AI around themStudents who have trained a small model understand what AI tools can do, where they go wrong, and how to use them with judgement.
Proof of what they can doA Certificate of Completion for each level passed, a portfolio of projects, and a path into Am-Can courses when they are ready.

Certificates

A Certificate of Completion confirms that the student passed that level's assessment.

Consent and eligibility

Applicants under 18 need written consent from a parent or guardian. All students need a verified student profile. Whether a student's courses are free or paid is decided by the free assessment, based on the information given in the application. See Fees and Payment.

Use of artificial intelligence (AI)

Am-Can uses artificial intelligence tools within its learning systems and connected services to support course content, assessment, feedback and administration. When a student receives feedback or a response generated by AI, it is identified as AI-generated. Any AI-assisted result may be reviewed by an instructor on request.

Privacy

Student information is collected only to run the course, mark assessments and issue results. It is stored on secure servers in Canada and the United States, and school email is hosted in Canada. Am-Can does not store payment card or banking details on its servers or computers. Payments are handled by independent payment providers, Stripe and RBC Interac. See our Privacy Policy.
