Financial and Refund Policy
This policy explains what you pay, when you pay it, and in what circumstances money is returned to you. It applies to every student of Am-Can Business & Tech School.

What tuition covers
One fee covers the whole course. It includes registration, the establishment or request of your Ontario Student Record, your transcript, and online examination proctoring. Writing your examination on site at the Vaughan campus under staff invigilation instead costs nothing extra.
The in person rate additionally covers supervised campus access and the use of school computers.

All amounts are in Canadian dollars. Fees are reviewed annually. A change to published fees does not affect a course you have already paid for.

When you pay
You pay when you register, at the point of completing the registration form. Your application is assessed after that, not before.
If a free place is still open in your grade under an advertised offer, there is no payment step to complete and nothing to refund.
Refunds
If your credit is not recorded within 90 days
Our 90 day transcript guarantee
If your completed credit is not recorded on your Ontario Student Transcript within 90 days of you finishing the course, your tuition is refunded in full.
The 90 days run from the date you finish your course. There is no deduction and nothing for you to prove beyond your own transcript.
This applies to every student, in every session, regardless of your citizenship, immigration status or country of residence. It covers any cause of delay, including the school's BSID not yet having been issued. A student studying from outside Canada is covered on exactly the same terms as a student in Vaughan, and it does not depend on whether you intend to apply to a Canadian university.
The one thing it does not cover is a delay you caused. If the credit cannot be recorded because you have not finished the course, or because you have not sent us a document we asked for, the 90 days does not apply. Where something is outstanding we will tell you what it is and give you a reasonable period to supply it, rather than letting the clock run out quietly.
If we do not approve your application
You are refunded in full. There is no deduction of any kind. You paid before the school had decided, so the school carries the cost of saying no.
If you change your mind within 48 hours
You may cancel within 48 hours of payment and be refunded in full, provided your course has not started and access to course materials has not been given to you. Send your cancellation in writing to the administration office.
After 48 hours, or once your course has started
No refund is given. Education is a service. Once the course has started and the teaching, materials and assessment have been made available to you, the service has been delivered and it cannot be returned. This applies whatever your subsequent attendance, progress or decision to withdraw.
If the school cancels your course
If the school withdraws a course or a format before it begins, you may either transfer to another course or session at no charge, or take a full refund. The choice is yours.
If your study permit is refused
If you are studying from outside Canada and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada refuses your study permit before your course begins, you are refunded in full. Send us your cancellation in writing with a copy of the refusal letter within 30 days of the date on it.
Transfers
Within the first 48 hours you may change your course or session at no charge. After that a transfer carries a fee of $100.00, and is subject to a place being available in the course and session you want.
A transfer is not a refund. The tuition you have paid moves with you.
How to request a refund
- Write to the administration office. Requests must be in writing; we cannot act on a telephone call alone.
- Tell us your full name, the course, the session and the date you paid.
- If you are claiming a study permit refusal, attach the refusal letter.
Refunds are returned by the same method you used to pay.
If you disagree with a decision
You may appeal any decision made under this policy. The school's Dispute Resolution and Academic Appeals Process sets out how, and the Principal is the final decision maker within the school.

How courses are delivered: the two attendance formats
Every course at this school is delivered online and asynchronously. There are no set class times. The school offers two attendance formats and the student chooses one at enrolment. Every one of the school's 26 courses is available in both formats in every session, and a student may ask to change format between sessions.

School computers are available, so a student in this format does not need to provide their own equipment. |
The course is identical in both formats: the same learning portal, the same unit materials, the same 110 scheduled instructional hours, the same weekly milestones and deadlines, the same assessments and rubrics, the same assigned Ontario Certified Teacher, and the same final mark composition. The format determines where a student studies, not what the course is or how it is taught. Students in both formats share one cohort discussion forum.
Attendance at the Vaughan campus is a facility the school provides, not a requirement of any course. A student in the on-site format who studies remotely on a given day is not marked absent and loses no mark, because attendance at this school means completion of the weekly milestones, not physical presence. No course requires a student to be physically present at any time, except where the student chooses to write the final examination on site. Every course therefore remains an online learning credit under Policy/Program Memorandum 167 in both formats.
